Resumo: The use of water in the pulp and paper industry is considered intensive and all the volume of water used to form an effluent to be treated so that the body can absorb and receiver do not change their characteristics. The use of coagulants for treatment of wastewater is a physical- chemical solution used for the elimination or reduction of compounds and to produce mainly, color, turbidity and COD. To facilitate industrial production, environmental control through only control techniques is not enough, it takes a relentless search for new products and technologies to meet industrial efficiency coupled with an environmentally friendly efficiency. Adequately treat the effluent generated in the manufacturing process adds costs to the production process and to the extent possible, should seek constantly reducing this impact. This thesis aims to assess the ideal for the treatment of wastewater generated in the pulp and paper process, taking into account the possible use of products and by-products used in the production process, reducing costs coagulants for the treatment of coagulant effluent in less generation of chemical sludge in the WWTP and the possibility of expanding the project with a lower cost of TEE. The method chosen for the evaluations were Bench (jar-test) that provided the best indication of the coagulant dosage of substances used for pH control, the ability to better corrosion of chlorinated coagulant tests. Coagulants were evaluated in this dissertation Rusty Ferrous Sulfate, Ferric Chloride and Poly Aluminium (PAC) that showed the best results among the chlorinated coagulants, being a product capable of absorbing part of the surplus production of chlorine from chlorine and caustic soda. With the results obtained in bench tests, made an estimate of all gains involved in the production of pulp and paper process and from this, the PAC dosing equipment were installed for a test plan for a period of 30 days. Its production and marketing within the site of the project is being evaluated along with another business partner of the venture, which makes the price extremely competitive coagulant. During the test plan, there was a mean increase of 17 % in the generation of chlorides in the treated effluent, the use of alkali to correct the pH of the treated effluent was not necessary to reduce the generation of chemical sludge was inconclusive and the savings achieved in the test plan was 332 917, 7 R$ / month, so, with a value higher than what was found during the bench tests (278 594, 6 R$ / month). The results were grouped in tables and 9 graphs and presented to the direction of the factory that is evaluating the possibility of installing a production unit PAC website this venture.
