The Thesis has as its investigative theme the Social Imagery inside the Education of the Deaf related to deafness, gender and sexuality. This investigation interacts between research lines from the postgradua Imagery refers to a system of significance from the society. Therefore, it refers to a symbolic dimension since the imagery draws on it to manifest itself translating beliefs, myths and the existent implied conceptions (Castoriadis, 1982). On this perspective, it is part of Cultural Studies (Silva, 2000), Deaf Studies (Skliar, 2013; Thoma, 2016; Lopes, 2007) and Gender Studies (Louro, 2014; Quaresma da Silva, 2012). The thesis presents as a research problem: which discourses, related to deafness, gender and sexuality are influencing the social imagery of teachers in a Bilingual Elementary School for the Deaf in the South of Brazil, and its implications on pedagogical practices? The general objective is investigate the social imagery from the teachers in a Bilingual School, and its conceptions related to deafness and deaf people, gender and sexuality and the reflection on pedagogical practices, as well as verify how deaf students understand themselves regarding to the topic. It is a hybrid research with a qualitative and quantitative approach, developed in two phases, in the first stage, a case study using reflective interviews and observations for the data collection and analysis through the groundedtheory. And in the second stage, the statistic analysis of questionnaires structured across the SPSS 24.0 software. After the analysis, it was found that: participants agree that the Sign Language is quite important, however, the group of teachers claim using too little on family interactions; the groups state that the school, at times, discuss gender and sexuality; there are indications of muzzling related to the topics of sexuality, gender and diversity; what contribute to the barriers is the lack of academic formation and the social imagery historically built. On this sense, the struggles are not only set in the place of the bilingual school for the deaf. We believe in the need for change, not only in legal texts, or in the ways of naming others who are different, but in the way we see people, and the different manners of expression and f interventions/formation so that the education professionals can feel more secure to perform the work promoting quality of life to the deaf students. Therefore it is recommended public policies organization to act upon the specificities of deaf people, emphasizing the importance of, when thinking the educational process, it is essential to organize it as of the bilingual condition of people.
