Violência de gênero: uma análise a partir do centro de referência para mulheres vítimas de violência – Patrícia Esber

Abstract

Este trabalho pretende compreender como ocorre o ciclo de violência contra mulheres, usuárias do Centro de Referência (CRM) para Mulher Vítima de Violência Patrícia Esber, do município de Canoas/RS. Para isso, procura reconstruir a trajetória de construção do CRM e entender seu papel junto à rede de atendimento, no processo de intervenção dos casos de violência; refletir sobre as memórias de dor das usuárias do CRM, procurando compreender como essas memórias podem auxiliar no rompimento do ciclo de violência; analisar de que forma as usuárias fizeram e fazem uso do auxílio prestado pelo CRM nas suas estratégias de resistência ou inovação no cuidado consigo mesmas. O referencial teórico aborda questões de gênero em uma perspectiva relacional, violência de gênero, políticas públicas direcionadas às mulheres em situação de violência, e alguns elementos de memória social. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, onde realizamos observações participantes no CRM, além de entrevistas com as técnicas e usuárias. O material empírico foi organizado a partir de uma análise de conteúdo temática. As categorias que emergiram foram: “violência desde o início da relação”, “ciclo da violência”, “resistência e rompimento”, e “desconfiança no sistema”. Entre os resultados desta pesquisa, destaca-se que um dos fatores que contribui na dificuldade das mulheres em situação de violência romperem com o ciclo da violência é a esperança de que seus companheiros mudem, deixem de ser violentos, e de que não confiam nas instituições policiais e judiciárias. Por fim, como esta pesquisa está inserida em um mestrado profissional, uma cartilha sobre a violência de gênero foi produzida, na intenção de ser mais um dispositivo de reflexão e encorajamento para outras mulheres que estejam passando por situações semelhantes a das investigadas.

This research aims to understand the cycle of violence against women, looking specifically at women who use the services of the Center of Reference for Women Victims of Violence (CRM) in Canoas, RS. Firstly, how the center was set up and its connection to the service network in relation to violence against women in general was investigated. Secondly, it was deemed vital to analyze the violent experiences, which produce painful memories felt by the service users, in order to understand how these might help to break the cycle of violence. Finally, how service users interact and use the support provided by CRM, including their resistance strategies were considered. Theoretical references included gender in a relational perspective, gender violence, public policies aimed at women in situations of violence and social memory. As a qualitative study, participant observations and interviews with both service users and staff were done. From this empirical material, a thematic content analysis was possible. The categories that emerged were: “violence since the beginning of the relationship”, “cycle of violence”, “resistance and disruption” and “mistrust in the system”. Included in the results of this research, is the all too common belief by battered women that they hope their partner will change his ways and no longer be violent, also mistrust of the police and legal system. These two factors make it increasingly difficult to break the cycle of violence. Finally, as this research is part of a professional master program, a booklet on gender violence was produced, intending to be a device of reflection and encouragement to all women who are going through similar situation to those investigated.
